Two Dragonflies: One Family

From a Dragonfly Mom Who Wrote About Her Inspiration For The Painting in the Picture:

When I attended a fundraiser for The Dragonfly Foundation, I had the awesome experience of learning how to paint a dragonfly. Later, at home, I decided to paint other another canvas, but with two dragonflies.

The first dragonfly I painted blue in honor of my youngest child, who had battled cancer. My son had been in chemotherapy for two years when we were introduced to TDF. It was not a moment too soon either, as my whole family had been suffering during my boy’s fight. TDF brought some good back into our lives and provided us much needed comfort and joy that helped sustain us for the last 11 months of his treatments. Now, they are helping us heal through continued support and kindness.

The second dragonfly, red, represents my little nephew who won his battle against aplastic anemia. He had been diagnosed a year after my son had received his diagnosis. TDF also brought my nephew and sister relief during his bone marrow transplant with the welcome bag full of helpful things to ease the burdens of being long term inpatient.

I have since painted matching canvases for my sister and I to have as a reminder of the battle our two boys fought and the pride we have in calling each one our son.
