From the uncle of a Dragonfly:
“When I saw a dragonfly in the past, it was just a pesky insect I’d see flying around a swimming pool. Now when I see a dragonfly, I feel a tug on my heart. When my sister first signed M up for the Dragonfly Foundation, I never realized what it would do for my family, and most importantly M. I never thought it would bring that many smiles and tears of joy. I set back and watched M, my mom, and sister all develop special bonds/relationships with complete strangers that were brought together because of the Dragonfly Foundation. Watching your niece and family go through the struggles that cancer brings to the table is hard, is challenging, and at times down right heartbreaking. Having the support of the other families that you become close with, well you can’t put a price on that. I thank you so much for the bottom of my heart for what your hard work in this foundation has done not only for our family, but many others as well.”

“We had a wonderful time connecting with other Dragonfly families at the Miami University hockey game tonight. A much needed break from the heaviness of life. Thank you The Dragonfly Foundation Cincinnati for being there for our family 🙂 “

Thank you, thank you! I opened the box in our room and was amazed. You guys are such a blessing. First time in days I’ve cried happy tears. Your organization goes above and beyond for our families. God bless you.”

From a Dragonfly Mom:
“Your foundation has given us many opportunities to celebrate the magic of the true spirit of Christmas ALL YEAR LONG! no matter what happens to C, I will never forget how you all welcomed us into your Dragonfly family and have gone out of your way to help offer support to my family. As a single mom of my youngest 3 (8,4,5mos.) you have left me speechless many times. I just want to say the families that receive your help this Christmas will certainly be blessed beyond belief. As I fear we are approaching the end of our connection, I just really want to tell you- it has felt like Christmas with every text message, or connection with other dragonfly parents, and the events we were blessed enough to attend. I participated in a video at fall fest and was suddenly put on the spot. I have thought a lot about what being a dragonfly means to me. DRAGONFLY’s are LOVE in a sick cruel world. And out of Faith, Hope, and Love- the greatest is Love. Thank you, God Bless.”

A General FB post that included Dragonfly:
“I really believe that God prepares our path before we even know there is a path. The week before N got diagnosed with cancer, they played the video “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” with the kids with cancer and the nurses dancing…and I broke into tears in church. I really believe that God was preparing me. My life is so focused on cancer now…..just a total shift in perception from when I hardly thought about it a year ago. Some of my facebook friends are also going through cancer. Maria, with a son with cancer and Sue with breast cancer…as well as the wonderful new friends through Dragonfly. Another really odd thing that is happening is I am having dreams almost every night of really old relationships and each one ends by letting the person know that they meant a lot to me and then releasing them into the universe. I’ve dreamed of childhood friends, old lovers, college friends etc. Each one, I acknowledge and thank for their part in my life…even bad relationships are in these dreams…and I wake up feeling good and loved. I really think God touches us in so many ways! This is not the path that I choose, but I think God is ordering my steps in some odd way. And no….I have not had any Margaritas LOL”

From a Dragonfly Volunteer:
“I wanted to share the most incredible experience I had while delivering the baskets:
I knew I would be delivering a basket to the Milford Quaker Steak and Lube so i asked my husband to meet me there for lunch. As we walked in the door I noticed the basket was a little disheveled so instead of giving it to the first person I saw, I sat down with it to pretty it up. The waitress approached and with such enthusiasm stated how wonderful of an organization we were and that the manager’s son was a Dragonfly. Well about three minutes later the manager approached and immediately stated that lunch was “on her”. I told her that wasn’t necessary because I was just truly honored to be a part of the Dragonfly Foundation, and she began to tell us all the wonderful things we (The Dragonfly Foundation) had done for her and her family. She insisted on paying for our lunch “out of gratitude”.
“Kelly, I knew that I loved being part of this organization the minute I stepped in to The Landing for my orientation, but the manager cemented in to my heart just how much we have touched her family and all the other families I have never met. The best thing, I have to say, was that my husband was there to hear the manager, in person tell her story. She was brief, because she was working, but so effective in communicating the immediate impact we have on the families that so desperately need us.”
I Am Truly Honored,
Maggie”
