I Am Still Me (TM) Hair Loss Book

Created in 2014, The Dragonfly Foundation’s I Am Still Me(TM) book was written to help patients (and their families) understand and cope with hair loss as a result of treatment. Included are personal stories from Dragonflies of various ages, as well as their caregivers.

The Dragonfly Foundation created the “I Am Still Me” Hair Loss Program to help patients before, during and after hair loss due to chemotherapy treatments. This program was created with support from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center’s Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute. The primary goals of the program are to:
• Minimize the psychological pain and fear that children and young adults experience before, during and after they lose their hair as a result of chemotherapy treatment
• Help patients take ownership of their hair loss, maintain their self-esteem and protect their self-image
• Educate the public on what cancer treatment entails and remind them that, even though everyone is focused on research, we can’t forget to care while we wait for a cure.

The “I Am Still Me” Program fits into The Dragonfly Foundation’s mission of bringing comfort and joy to kids and young adults (from birth to age 30) who have cancer or a blood disease that requires chemotherapy, radiation or a bone marrow transplant.
