Our families enjoyed a day of being treated like professional baseball players. Thanks to the generosity of CBTS/Cincinnati Bell, Dragonfly patients and families had the opportunity to play baseball on the field of Great American Ball Park. Part of this experience included surprising patients and their siblings/offspring with customized Reds jerseys hung in the visitor’s clubhouse — with each shirt bearing the player’s name or nickname and favorite number. Dragonflies had individual and team photos taken, had their names displayed on the jumbotron, played catch on the field, and hit balls thrown by former Reds player, Tom Browning. After the game, Dragonfly families enjoyed lunch in the Lexus Diamond Club!
Such a Special Day
Dragonfly people, staff included, love wearing Dragonfly-branded items.
During a recent salon visit, Ria Davidson, Dragonfly’s co-founder, heard someone exclaim, “Nice dragonfly bag!” — not realizing she had a connection to the organization. When Ria explained her involvement, the woman exclaimed, “My nephew is a Dragonfly!” and immediately started to emotional. She then shared the many ways Dragonfly has supported her nephew and his family.
One of the examples she gave was the recent day at Great American Ball Park (described above). She was so happy siblings were given the opportunity to play — and receive jerseys! She credits Dragonfly with bringing a sense of normalcy to her brother’s family..
