“As a mother of a young cancer patient, I cannot begin to explain the horror and feelings of helplessness…”

From a Dragonfly mom:

“As a mother of a young cancer patient, I cannot begin to explain the horror and feelings of helplessness while watching your precious child go through the pain  and anguish of cancer treatments.  There were times when we didn’t think she would make it.  Times when I was doubled over in despair, watching my world crumble around me.  Times when I didn’t know if I could be there for her.  But slowly and surely she became stronger, and we also gained hope.  And life changed from dismal grays and blacks to color again.  Like a flower blooming and unfolding, our world brightened and shined and we learned to find the positive… and there is so much positive to found.  Generosity, kindness, hope, love… so many souls opening their arms and embracing us, unconditionally.  And now, Maya is in remission.  She is the epitome of life:  feisty, intense, hopeful, worried, joyful, thankful… STRONG… She is the most AMAZING 10-year old that I have ever met.  Maya gives us HOPE.  We gain strength from her strength.  Hope from her hope.  Our life may have been “interrupted” but we have prevailed on the other side… stronger, more faithful and more hopeful than ever before.  Cancer can interrupt our lives briefly, but it CANNOT take away our souls, our passion, our love and our strength!  Cancer only makes us STRONGER!  It makes our life BRIGHTER!  Our love more INTENSE!   And it makes our faith INVINCIBLE!”
